Lexington, VA - The Hollins soccer team faced a tough task on Wednesday afternoon as they made the trip north to Lexington to face Washington and Lee. The Generals were picked atop the 2017 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) preseason poll and brought a 1-0 league record into the contest.
Washington and Lee used a 27 shot first half to take control of the match. After about 10 minutes of play, the Generals scored three goals in a two minute stretch to take the early advantage. Hollins kept their hosts off the scoreboard but they continued to see almost all the action in front of the Hollins net. A pair of goals in the final 10 minutes made the score 5-0 at the break. The Generals added another quick tally at the start of the second half and kept Hollins from gaining any offensive zone time. Washington and Lee added another 11 shots in the second stanza, converting five into scores to make the final score, 10-0.
In goal, Audrey Haisley recorded 10 stops for the visitors.
Allie Miller scored twice while eight teammates added single goals for the Generals.
Hollins will be back on their home turf on Saturday when they face Trinity (D.C.) in non-conference action.
