Roanoke, VA - After starting the season with eight consecutive non-conference matches, the Hollins soccer team hosted cross-town rival Roanoke College in her Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) opener. Hollins looked to get the conference season off to a good start while the Maroons came into the game after tying Randolph-Macon in their first conference matchup.

The Hollins defense started the afternoon with a stellar effort keeping the Maroons off the board. At the 11:00 minute mark, Roanoke finally broke through the tight Hollins defense when Sierra Lynn Johnson took a pass through the back line and netted the Maroon's first goal of the game. Johnson would go on to record a "hat trick" in the first half as Roanoke enjoyed an advantage at the break, 7-0. The second half would see Hollins continue to see most of the action played in their own zone. Roanoke would add a pair of tallies to their lead and at the final horn, pick up their first ODAC win of the season, 9-0.

Keeper Hannah Armstrong made 18 stops as she and the defense faced 47 shots, 27 on goal. Miranda Springston saw Hollins lone scoring chance blocked by a Maroon defender.

Johnson scored three goals with Addy Fitzgerald adding a pair of scores off the bench. Meagan Ryan registered three of Roanoke's eight assists while a trio of goalkeepers combined for the shutout.

Hollins will continue ODAC play on Saturday when they play host to Guilford College at 2:00pm.
