Lexington, VA - The Hollins golf team competed with 12 other schools at the Generals Invitational hosted by Washington and Lee. The two-day event was held at the Lexington Golf and Country Club. Methodist University finished atop the field while Carnegie Melon tied for second with the host Generals of W&L.
The Hollins foursome showed vast improvement from the first day. The team bested her Monday total by 25 shots in the finale. Senior Michelle DuCom reduced her opening round score by 19 strokes to pace the green and gold. For her efforts, DuCom moved up the leaderboard and finished just one slot ahead of teammate Pranika Kar. Kar shot the low round for Hollins on Monday but couldn't duplicate her efforts teeing off on a foggy and chilly Tuesday morning. Ya Gao once again posted the team's third best score. Gao improved for one day to the next by a total of 17 strokes. Kate Kirkpatrick, playing just her second collegiate event, was the third Hollins player to best their first round total when the junior shaved 12 strokes on her round.
Hollins will compete one last time this fall when they play Emory & Henry in a duel meet later this month.
