2017 ODAC Golf Tournament Comes To A Close

Nellysford, VA - Tuesday marked the final day of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Golf Championships. The three-day tournament came to an end and signaled the conclusion to the 2016-17 golf season. Hollins had a trio of seniors competing for the final time while representing their university.

Shelby Estes wrapped up her collegiate career with a sixth place finish in the tournament. Estes posted her best round of the championships yesterday with a nine over par 81. For the event, Estes finished with a total of 257, just three strokes from a top four finish. With her top six result, Estes was once again named to the All Tournament team, a feat she accomplished in last year's event and the third of her career. After posting a 80.82 average during her final campaign, the Mt. Crawford native was selected to the ODAC All Conference 2nd team, just behind a quartet of top 100 ranked national players.

The best round of the third day belonged to Shannon Ciccarello. Ciccarello carded a final round 87, her best round of the tournament. Her final score of 266 put Shannon in the top 10, tied for ninth in the field of 30 golfers. The senior from Stafford finished four shots clear of the 91st ranked golfer in the country.

Hollins final competitor was Amber Markovitz. Markovitz matched her score from yesterday and finished with a total of 322, giving her a 24th place finish. Her total from the 2017 tournament was 10 shots better than her results in the 2016 championship event.
