Baltimore, MD - For the final time in 2017, the Hollins basketball team was in action with a semester ending trip to Baltimore. Hollins faced off with Notre Dame of Maryland less than 10 days ahead of Christmas. Three different Hollins players grabbed double-digit rebounds to lead them past the Gators, 52-43.

After taking a week off during their exam period, Hollins struggled early on the offensive end. Notre Dame held her guests scoreless for nearly four minutes, but the Gators could not take advantage, leading just 4-1. With just 3:10 to play in the first quarter and the score 2-6, Hollins would score it's first basket of the afternoon. The two teams finally started to break through the defenses and the visitors would trail by just three points, 12-9, at the break. LaChrisha Hill would score four straight to give Hollins her first lead of the game. Keyazia Taylor added to the lead before a Notre Dame three pointer tied the score at 15-15. Hollins would begin to wear down their hosts and thanks to a 10-6 run to close the half, they would take a four point advantage into the locker room. In a theme that would play out throughout the matchup, Hollins began to dominate the glass and enjoyed 26-19 lead on the boards. After the two teams played the third period to a draw, Hollins would look to close out the Gators in the fourth quarter. Hollins held the home team to just 17% shooting in the finale and with another solid effort on the glass, Hollins would hold the Gators scoreless the final two minutes to pull away for the victory.

Taylor paced Hollins with 15 points and 15 rebounds while Hill led all scorers with 17. Hill and Deana Campbell would each add 12 rebounds as the road team enjoyed a huge, 57-41, rebounding edge. Chesslyn Owens came off the bench to score eight and hand out six assists.

Zaria Comer led Notre Dame with 14 points and 10 boards while Justine Mudiay came off the Gator bench to score 10.

Hollins will take a break to enjoy the holidays before returning to action on January 2nd when they play host to Central Penn at 5:00pm
