Ashland, VA - Tuesday night marked the opening round of the 2017 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Women's Basketball Tournament. Hollins traveled to Ashland to face the same Randolph-Macon squad that beat them on Saturday afternoon in their regular season finale. The Yellow Jackets raced out to a big early lead and never let their guests get into the matchup, earning a trip to Salem and the ODAC quarterfinals on Friday afternoon.
Randolph-Macon scored the first 13 points of the night, racing out to a big first quarter lead. Sally Sroge scored seven straight points for Hollins as the visitors cut the deficit to 14-7. Macon would close out the period on a 4-2 run to take a nine point lead into the second quarter. The second 10 minutes started the same as the first, with the Yellow Jackets staring on a 9-0 run to push the lead to 18 points and all but ending any chance of a Hollins upset. Jewellanna Parfitt would hit a three pointer to start the second half and after she completed another bucket plus, Hollins would cut the Jacket's advantage to 14. However, the home team would regain control of the game and begin to stretch out their lead throughout the remainder of the game and as the final horn sounded, Hollins would find themselves on the short end of a 65-44 score.
Sroge would score a team high 17 on 7-11 shooting. Parfitt would net 16 points in her final game in a Hollins uniform. Parfitt would close out her collegiate career with 1,338 points, landing her just two points shy of third place on the all time scoring list. LaChrisha Hill finished with seven points, eight rebounds, and a blocked shot.
After scoring 30 points on Saturday, first-year post player Kelly Williams scored a game high 21 points and eight rebounds. Amber Lee would add 14 points, eight boards, five steals, and a pair of blocked shots.
