Summerdale, PA - With exams in the rear view, the Hollins basketball team embarked on a two-game road trip to the Keystone State. Hollins faced off with Central Penn College on Sunday afternoon in search of going into the Christmas break with a win. Hollins grabbed the lead from the opening tip and thanks to a big third quarter, cruised to a 65-48 victory.
The road team took the advantage in the opening stages of the first quarter, holding their hosts to just nine points in the first 10 minutes of play. The Knights would close the gap in the second period but Hollins would hold off Central Penn and take a 28-26 lead into the break. Thanks to a huge third quarter in which Hollins outscored the home team 28-6, the green and gold would seize control of the matchup en route to picking up the non-conference win.
For the second consecutive game, Jewellanna Parfitt posted 22 points. The senior added nine rebounds, three assists, and four steals while Sally Sroge notched 16 points, seven boards, and three assists. Nicolette Valencia added nine points, five rebounds, four assists, and six of Hollins 15 steals. Deana Campbell and LaChrisha Hill combined to add 12 points and 20 rebounds in the post.
Jade Adams led the Knights with 15 points with Amira Howard adding 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Hollins will look to ring in the New Year with a 2-0 road trip as they travel to face Cedar Crest on Tuesday afternoon.
