Hollins riders finished fifth at IHSA event

Event: Riding - Hollins at Bridgewater/James Madison Spring ISHA (Harrisonburg, VA)

The lead: The Hollins riding team was back in Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) action on Saturday when they traveled to the Shenandoah Valley. Hollins would compete with seven other teams in an event co-hosted by Bridgewater and James Madison.

The result:

  • Randolph (Champion) 43
  • Washington and Lee/University of Virginia (Co-Reserve Champion) 37
  • Bridgewater 35
  • Hollins 25
  • University of Lynchburg 24
  • James Madison 22
  • Roanoke 8

How it happened: One win and a trio of runner-up finishes would highlight the day for the Hollins riders. Three other riders would see top five finishes as Hollins would finish just a single point clear of Lynchburg to secure the team's top five finish. Randolph would win the event by six points over the co-runners up, W&L and UVa.

Hollins notes:

  • For the second show in a row, Logan Landfried would bring home a blue ribbon. The sophomore finished first in Intermediate Hunter Seat Equitation over Fences. This came just six days after her win at Randolph that secured her a spot in the IHSA Regional Show.
  • Hollins would have three riders earn runner-up ribbons
    • Mara Smith finished runner-up in Intermediate Hunter Seat Equitation on the Flat
    • In Novice Hunter Seat Equitation on the Flat, Kaitlyn Okin would record another second place finish for Hollins
    • Sarah Grace Himes earned her ribbon in Walk-Trot Hunter Seat Equitation

What's next: The next IHSA event will be a co-hosted show by Hollins and Washington and Lee next Saturday.
