Roanoke, VA - After claiming the Reserve Champion crown last week at Randolph, the Hollins equestrian team played host to the 2017 Hollins Fall Horse Show over the weekend.
Last week at the Randolph Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) event, Randi Byrd earned High Point Rider honors and followed up that effort by being named Green Hunter Champion at the Hollins show. Byrd finished first in three different disciplines; Green Hunter over fences, under saddle, and SWVHJA Adult Equitation on the flat. Allison Sherwood earned a first in Adult Hunter under saddle and was named Adult Hunter Champion. Also in Adult Hunter, Emmalee Funk earned a blue ribbon over fences and was named Reserve Champion.
Logan Landfried finished on top in Children's Hunter over fences and under saddle to be named Children's Hunter Champion. Katie Grandelli was crowned Special Adult Hunter Champion and brought home a blue ribbon under saddle. And a final champion for the green and gold was Emily Collins. Collins was first in Special Adult Hunter over fences while being honored as the Reserve Champion.
Another pair of Hollins riders earned first place awards. Taylor Ellis finished atop the list in Special Adult Hunter over fences with Marissa Howell besting the field in Intermediate Hunter over fences.
Hollins will be back on the IHSA trail with a trip to UVa on October 14th.
