Lohr Named Grand Champion At SWVHJA Annual Show

Lexington, VA - The Southwest Virginia Hunter Jumper Association (SWVHJA) annual show took place over the weekend.  The show, starting on Friday afternoon and running through Sunday, was held at the Virginia Horse Center in Lexington.

Maddy Lohr led the Hollins riders by being named Grand Champion while riding Tripoli. Lohr won the Gold Medal SWVHJA Adult Medal Finals, Younger Adult Amateur Hunter Champion, Best Amateur Rider, Grand Champion Children's/Adult Hunter, and Grand Champion Adult Amateur Hunter.

Allison Sherwood was also well decorated over the weekend. Sherwood was aboard Braveheart, her own horse, when she earned a Silver Medal in SWVHJA Hunter Seat Medal Finals. Allison also was named Low Hunter Champion and under saddle Children's Hunter Champion.

Randi Byrd finished 2nd in Adult Amateur Hunter under saddle while Madi Hurley placed 10th in SWVHJA Adult Medal Finals and 2nd in Adult Amateur Hunter. Lucy Smith, aboard Whiskey Tango, earned a 1st and 4th in Special Adult Hunter. 

The Hollins riders will finish their fall schedule with a trip to Sweet Briar. The Sweet Briar Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) event will be help on Saturday, November 12th.
