Lynchburg, VA - The Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) season started for the Hollins equestrian team with a trip to Randolph College. Hollins finished fourth in a field that featured 10 different schools.
The hosts from Randolph were named Champion while fellow Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) competitor Sweet Briar College was named Reserve Champion. Bridgewater rounded out the top three with Hollins finishing just one point behind the Eagles.
A trio of Hollins riders earned first place ribbons. Taylor Campbell, competing in her first ever collegiate show, secured a first place finish in the Walk Trot for beginners. After winning a ribbon at the Trimble's Ridge show, Randi Byrd won her first blue ribbon of the fall by winning Open Flat. Abby Strohmeyer gave Hollins her third, first place finish, when she finish atop the standings in Intermediate Flat.
Maddy Lohr, Open Fences, and Audrey McElroy, Walk Trot, each brought home runner-up ribbons for Hollins.
The riders will be back in action in mid-October when they travel to Bridgewater College for an IHSA event on the 15th.
