Lynchburg, VA -The Hollins riders were in action over the weekend with a pair of shows. After an IHSA event at Randolph College on Saturday, the riders stayed in the Lynchburg area for a Sunday show at Sweet Briar. After a seventh place finish at Randolph, Hollins finished runner up on Sunday afternoon.
On Saturday, Elizabeth Byrd earned a blue ribbon in Novice Fences, qualifying her for the Regional event later in the spring. Abigail Strohmeyer secured first place points when she won the Intermediate Fences while Jennifer Chornlesky gave Hollins a third ribbon when she best the field in the Advanced Walk Trot Canter Equitation.
In addition to the team runner up finish on Sunday afternoon, the Hollins riders brought home four different top three ribbons. Strohmeyer added another first place award when she once again won Intermediate Fences. Sara Baygents earned a second blue ribbon for Hollins when she captured the Novice Fences division. Byrd added a runner up ribbon in Open Flat while Mara Smith finished third in Advanced Walk Trot Canter Equitation.
Hollins will travel next weekend for an IHSA event at Bridgewater College. The show will be held at the Bridgewater College Equestrian Center in Weyers Cave, Va on Saturday, February 20th.
