Byrd and Ranzo Named Champion

Lexington, VA - The 2014 Southwest Virginia Hunter Jumper Association (SWVHJA) Finals took place this past weekend.  The event was held at the Virginia Horse Center in Lexington, VA.

A pair of Hollins riders were named Champion Rider in two of the classifications.  First-year Randi Byrd was named Reserve Champion in the Hunter Seat Medal Finals.  Byrd, riding Hollins horse "Piece of the Rock", finished first in Children's Hunter Over Fences and first in the Low Hunter Section A.  During the three day event, Byrd was also named Champion and Grand Champion Children's Hunter while being named Best Child Rider on a horse, given to the best rider under the age of 18.

Senior Liz Ranzo recorded a pair of first place finishes, a second, and a third en route to being named Champion and Grand Champion Special Adult Hunter.  Ranzo achieved her success aborad Hollins horse, McKinley.
