Jean Willi was named Hollins Interim Athletic Director and began the day-to-day operations of the department effective November 29, 2017.
Willi recently retired from Bridgewater College after having served at the institution for a number of years. She had returned to her alma mater after earning her Master’s degree at nearby James Madison University. Upon her return to Bridgewater, Jean served in a variety of roles over the years. She began as an assistant coach for a variety of sports before settling in with the basketball program. After the retirement of longtime coach Laura Mapp, Willi took the reins of the Eagles' program in 1996. Over her 20 years on the bench, she amassed an overall record of 375-191, including winning the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) championship in 1999 and again in 2008. In addition to coaching, Willi served the college as Senior Woman Administrator (SWA), Associate Athletic Director, Deputy Title IX Coordinator, SAAC chair, and in many other areas.
